What Is the eVisitor Visa (Subclass 651) for Australia?
The eVisitor visa is an electronic Australian visitor visa for citizens holding an eligible European passport. It’s digitally linked to the passport used in the application, so no physical visa label is placed inside the passport.
You may use an eVisitor for:
- Tourism, holidays, or a cruise
- Visiting relatives or friends
- Certain business-visitor activities, such as attending a conference, meeting, trade fair, or contract negotiation
- Study or training for up to 3 months, subject to the visa’s conditions
The eVisitor does not give you permission to work in Australia. Business-visitor activities must not involve working for, or providing paid services to, an Australian business.

Australia eVisitor Visa FAQs
What is the difference between the ETA and the eVisitor visa for Australia?
Toggle faqs
The eVisitor visa (Subclass 651) is available to citizens holding specified European passports.
The Electronic Travel Authority, or ETA (Subclass 601), is used by passport holders from other eligible countries. Both commonly permit short tourism or business visits of up to 3 months.
Why use VisaSyst if the Australian Government does not charge for the eVisitor?
Toggle faqs
VisaSyst charges for an optional private service that includes a guided form, review of application data, secure document handling, customer assistance, and delivery of correspondence.
These services are not included in a direct government application.
Can I extend my eVisitor visa while I am in Australia?
Toggle faqs
The eVisitor itself cannot be extended or renewed. To remain longer, you would need to qualify for and obtain another visa before your lawful stay ends.
Whether you can apply from inside Australia depends on your circumstances and the conditions attached to your current visa. Check your grant letter or VEVO before making plans.
Do children and infants need their own eVisitor visa?
Toggle faqs
Yes. Every traveler needs a separate application, including children and infants. A child cannot be included in a parent’s eVisitor application, even when the child is listed in the parent’s passport.
Additional consent or identity documents may be requested for travelers under 18.
How long does eVisitor approval take with VisaSyst?
Toggle faqs
VisaSyst processes all applications within 3 days. We’ll inform you by email of the outcome of your application.
Is approval guaranteed?
Toggle faqs
No private company can guarantee that the Australian Government will grant a visa. VisaSyst can check an application for common errors and missing information, but the final decision rests with the Department of Home Affairs.
VisaSyst’s denial-protection policy concerns eligible service-fee refunds and is not a guarantee of approval.
